James Cecil Kent was born 30 November, 1895 in Aycliffe.

James was baptized January 1, 1896 at St. Andrew's Church, Aycliffe.

He was the son of Christopher and Elizabeth Ann Kent and had 4 brothers and sisters in the 1911 census.

James Cecil Kent joined the 3rd Battalion, Durham Light Infantry, Pte 36563, and received the Victory and British Medal.

In the Absent Voters' List of October 1918 James' address is given as Diamond Villa, Aycliffe.

James married Emma (Emmie) Doran 24 April 1920 at Aycliffe and lived in the High Street for many years. They had 3 children, Vera Everine Kent, Denis Christopher Kent and Margaret (Pegg) Geraldine Kent. James died 22 October 1980 at Aycliffe, aged 84.
