Henry Stephen Lee was born December 26, 1890 in Torquay, Devon. His parents were James Lee and Edith Pascoe.

Henry travelled alone to the United States when he was 17 years old. He worked his way across America,.

1912 Henry was injured while working for the Wright brothers. He lost the sight in his right eye.

July 25, 1917 Henry joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Vancouver.

Henry travelled back to Liverpool on the SS Metagama, then on to France.

Henry was honourably discharged August 11, 1919 in London. He was a sapper.

While in London he married Ada Moore. They had four children.

Henry's eldest son James married Maria Bowerbank from Cornforth and they lived in Newton Aycliffe for over 40 years.

Henry Stephen Lee's grandson and greatgrandchildren still live in Newton Aycliffe.
