Charles Henry Ludgate was baptized September 2, 1880 at Holy Trinity Church, Darlington.

Parents: John H Ludgate, born Nettledon Lodge, Hereford, and Emma, born Aldbrough, Yorkshire. John was a grocer in 1881 but by 1901 had become a blacksmith's striker at the engine works.

Charles Henry Ludgate married Elizabeth Ellen of Bowes in 1909. He worked as a warehouseman.

In the 1911 census Charles now had a son, Clifford Francis Ludgate, age 1 1/2 years, born Darlington.

Charles served in WW1. He died in 1921.

Charles Henry Ludgate is the grandfather of John Dent of Newton Aycliffe.
